About

A love letter to Black cinema

Black Movies Trivia celebrates more than a century of Black filmmaking, from the silent features Oscar Micheaux made in 1919 to the record-breaking films of today. Every question is a doorway to a film, a filmmaker or a moment worth knowing.

How the questions are made

Each question is written by hand and checked against published film histories, Academy Awards records and studio credits. After every answer you'll see a short fact with the story behind it.
